Every winter, at Cannactiva, we celebrate the magic of the season with a unique postcard. This year, the postcard is inspired by the essence of the night and the wisdom that emanates from the darkness, and is illustrated by Adolfo Serra. Cannactiva Winter Postcard

Once upon a cold winter night, a man was desperately looking for his house keys under the light of a street lamp. An owl, attracted by the rustling, landed on a nearby branch and asked:

– Are you sure you lost them here?

The man, frowning, replied:

– No, I think I lost them in the gloom of the forest, but here there is light and I can see better.

The owl cocked its head to one side and, with its piercing gaze, whispered:

– Sometimes you have to go into the dark to find what really matters.

Turn off the light, close your eyes, keep silent and go inside. Dreams and stars, which only appear in the absence of light, whisper the way to find the keys to your house.

About the illustrator of the postcard: Adolfo Serra

Adolfo Serra is an explorer of blank pages. He studied Advertising and Public Relations, but soon returned to his childhood passion: drawing. He took up pencils and watercolors again at the Escuela de Arte 10 in Madrid. Since then, his table has been filled with colors, papers and textures. For him, to illustrate is to decide, to illustrate is to tell, to illustrate is to observe, to illustrate is… to feel.

His illustrations have been selected for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (Italy), the Bratislava Illustration Biennial (Slovakia), the Sharjah Children’s Book Fair (United Arab Emirates), the Catálogo Iberoamericano de Ilustración (Mexico), the CJ Picture Book Awards (Korea), the Mostra Internazionale d’Illustrazione per l’Infanzia Sàrmede (Italy) and the China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (China).

Seasonal gift: White Sage Sahumerium

As a gift, each winter postcard comes with a white sage incense burner. The sahumerio is a bundle of white sage that burns to release an aromatic smoke. In reality, it is much more than a dry grass incense: the origin of sahumerios is deeply rooted in various cultures. Today, the use of these bundles has transcended their ritual roots and are used in meditation, to relax and connect with oneself.
