World Star Wars Day: May the 4th Be With You

Star Wars Cannabis Banner

Every May 4th is celebrated as World Star Wars Day. The date was chosen by fans of the saga, due to a pun that became popular: May the 4th be with you, which sounds similar to the iconic phrase of the saga “May the Force be with you”. Anyway, in honor of this day, we wanted to dedicate a post dedicated to Star Wars.

Lessons from Star Wars

May The Force Be With You

Since its launch in 1977, Star Wars has become the most epic science fiction and fantasy saga of all time, captivating audiences of all ages. Beyond the special effects, the adventures of Jedi and Darth Vader for the galactic balance, have left a series of valuable lessons.

Que La Fuerza Te Acompañe (May The Force Be With You) is the most iconic phrase in Star Wars, where the characters use it as a greeting and wish for good luck.

Similarly, World Cannabis Day, April 20, is celebrated with the phrase “May The 4th Be With You“, in allusion to this popular Star Wars greeting, and taking advantage of the similarity in the pronunciation of 4th (the fourth month of the year) and Force.

To properly understand the meaning of the phrase, we must first explain what “the force” is. In the plot, The Force represents the mystical and powerful energy that flows through all living and non-living beings in the galaxy, and can be used by all those with the ability to feel it to perform incredible feats. This metaphysical and omnipresent energy is the central concept of the mythology surrounding the Star Wars universe, and carries with it lessons that can be translated to spiritual and moral concepts of current transcendence.

The Force can be interpreted as a metaphor for inner strength, and how believing in it can help people overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. The Force also represents the ability to overcome fears and limitations. Most importantly, this strength can be used for both “good” and “evil”.

Surely now you will understand why the phrase May The Force Be With You has become an almost solemn greeting, both among Star Wars fans and in popular culture.

The struggle between good and evil

In the Star Wars story, there are two sides of The Force: the light side and the dark side. The light represents goodness, justice and peace; while the dark side represents selfishness, anger and violence. In fiction, the Jedi use The Force to protect the galaxy, while on the dark side, the Sith seek to gain power and control over others.

As in real life, during the plot, the characters are faced with difficult decisions and must choose between right and wrong. This struggle between right and wrong reflects the morality we apply daily in different areas of everyday life. History – and not just Star Wars – teaches us that our choices have consequences and that we should meditate before making important decisions.

The duality of human nature

Star Wars leaves us with a metaphor about the duality of human nature, the philosophical concept explored in science fiction. All the characters in the saga have a dark side and a light side, and they constantly struggle to maintain the balance between them.

This is clearly illustrated in the character of Darth Vader, a young Jedi full of hope named Anakin Skywalker, who has fallen into darkness and done terrible things. Despite this, Darth Vader still has the ability to return to the light side and perform feats filled with goodness.

This character arc shows the ability to choose between doing right and wrong, but also how our actions can have long-term consequences and an impact on others. In short, it is a true reflection on the complexity of human nature and the need to embrace and balance our different facets.

The power of hope

Star Wars is a story of hope and optimism in dark times, where there is always hope that things will get better and that good will prevail over evil.

Throughout the entire saga it is shown that, even in the darkest moments, there is always hope. Thanks to hope, the characters fight with perseverance against “the forces of evil” and never give up, no matter how great the challenges they face, and even when things seem dark and discouraging.

Hope is what makes the saga epic, and it transcends the screens to keep the viewer totally hooked and excited, heart in hand until the end, or even, until the next movie. Quite a display of the power of hope!

Humility and simplicity of characters

Interesting lessons can also be drawn from Star Wars characters. Although it may seem paradoxical, behind a story full of special effects, there are hidden values of humility and simplicity, which are mainly represented by the Jedi.

The Jedi are like an order of knights and warriors connected to The Force who maintain peace and order in the galaxy. They follow an ethical and moral code that includes the defense of life, liberty and justice. In general, the Jedi are known for their humility and their commitment to humility as part of their philosophy.

The importance of family and friendship

Star Wars is also a story about family and friendship. The characters of the saga find in their loved ones the strength to overcome obstacles, and the importance of having friends in difficult times is clear.

From Chewbacca’s loyalty to Han Solo to the enduring friendship between Luke Skywalker and the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, the characters demonstrate that it is better to face our challenges together and that loyalty, friendship and mutual support are essential to overcome obstacles. A metaphor for the importance of relationships in our lives.

Main characters and their learning

Yoda is one of the wisest and most powerful Jedi in the galaxy, a legendary Jedi Master, stronger than most in his connection to the Force. Wise and powerful, he comes across as an extremely humble character. He always refers to himself as an “old master” and never boasts of his wisdom or abilities. His humility comes from his understanding that true wisdom lies not in arrogance, but in humility and open-mindedness.

One of Yoda’s epic phrases is There is no emotion, there is peace, alluding to mental tranquility as a means to achieve harmony.

Another of the mythical phrases of this character isDo or do not, there is no try, referring to the importance of determination and self-confidence to achieve a goal.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a warrior Jedi Master and experienced leader, who is not driven by pride or arrogance. On the contrary, he shows respect for others, including his enemies.

In addition to his character, during the plot, the Jedi Master faces the consequences of his greatest defeat: the corruption of his former friend and apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side to become Sith Lord Darth Vader. Quite a lesson in humility for a great master!

Luke Skywalker, the mighty Jedi who has saved the galaxy on several occasions, always maintains a modest and unpretentious attitude. His humility is due in large part to his Jedi training, which emphasizes the importance of humility and self-control.

Rey is a young Jedi and one of the Resistance’s last hopes, who is always willing to learn from others and work as a team to achieve her goals.

In conclusion…

We hope you have enjoyed this walk through Star Wars philosophy and the reflections it has left us with. From the importance of friendship and teamwork, to the need to find balance and connection with the universe, Star Wars is much more than pure entertainment.

Whether you don’t know the saga yet, or you have already seen it several times, we invite you to prepare a good movie night accompanied by some CBD flowers to relive the experience and celebrate Star Wars Day as it deserves. May the peace be with you!
